IF YOU THINK YOU KNOW PEOPLE

Here's what an angel told me.
Take it from me, he said.
"You don't know people until you come close to them.
Until you have to come near.
Until they have to speak to you.
Until you spend time together.
Perhaps until you live together.
Until you have a pressing need you think they can help with.
Sometimes, until you're helpless and at the end of your ropes.

Happy faces don't always mean the presence of joy or love.
Some guys will cast you out in a minute, if they think you have nothing to offer.
They will just cast you out, sometimes with a hollow pretext.
They will use you and dump you.

Sometimes, smiles don't mean anything.
Wickedness is easily veiled in ordinary times, in the hearts of men. Deeply hidden that you can not see it.
Pretence, hidden self interest, self preservation and outright conceitedness are sometimes the basis of ordinary relationships. 

If you think you know people; come close and see the stuff they are really made of. You may be lucky , I'ld like to say, but be careful and tread softly.

Unconditional love exists, but very uncommon. How do you know it when you see it?

But may you be the one that shows that sacrificial affection.
 May you be the one that gives true love in expectation of nothing in return. May you be the one that loves from the heart, without strings attached.

Still, be ready, because it's going to happen to you.
Someone will betray you, like they did the Lord. Someone will be vileful and wicked.
Someone will set you up.
Someone will neglect you.
Someone will make you feel smaller than you were made to be
Someone will write you off when you need all the hope you can get.

And If you look left and right
Back and forward.
And the solid ground is impenetrable
If you feel you've been hemmed in with no sign of a rescue.
There is always one option left.

You must look up.
To the source of your freedom. That's where your salvation is", he said. 

I've been there. The Lord saves was all my response.

So, I was relaying the story that the great, gentle bearded one told me. I had almost forgotten about it because I got tied to many earthly things.
