Right to Dignity: Every suspect must be treated humanely and not subjected to torture or degrading treatment.

Right to Silence: A suspect has the right to remain silent and not answer questions that may incriminate them.

Right to know the Reason for Arrest: Police must immediately inform a suspect of the reason for their arrest in a language they understand.

Right to Legal Representation: A suspect has the right to consult and be defended by a lawyer of their choice.

Right to be charged within 24-48 Hours: A suspect must be taken to court within 24 hours or 48 hours where a court is not nearby.

Right to Bail: Every suspect accused of a bailable offence is entitled to free bail without payment.

Right to Notify Family or Lawyer: A suspect is entitled to have their family, lawyer, or friend informed of their arrest or detention.

Right to Humane Detention: A suspect must be kept in a clean, safe and separate cells with access to food, water, and toilet facilities.

Right to Medical Care: A suspect who is ill or injured has the right to prompt medical attention.

Right to Presumption of Innocence: Every suspect is presumed innocent until proven guilty by a competent court.

Right to Complain Against Police Misconduct: A suspect has the right to report Police abuse or extortion to the Complaint Response Unit or other authorities.

Right Against Indefinite Detention: A suspect cannot be held in ‘police custody beyond the lawful period without a court order.

Right to Legal Aid: Indigent suspects are entitled to free legal assistance through the Legal Aid Council or accredited NGOs

Right to Fair Hearing: Every suspect has the right to fair, public, and impartial trial within a reasonable time.
